sudo apt-get install -y nodejs

# Using Debian, as root

or you can just download NVM ( Node Version Manager ) and switch between your node js versions as your project requirement.

#Using ubuntu/Debian
curl -o- https://raw.githubusercontent.com/creationix/nvm/v0.33.0/install.sh | bash
#Using Centos or rpm distributions
curl -o- https://raw.githubusercontent.com/nvm-sh/nvm/v0.35.3/install.sh | bash
  • Ensure that nvm was installed correctly with nvm --version, which should return the version of nvm installed.

NVM is really handy when it comes to development on node js projects.
